Getting married in Provence
Lavender, vineyards and stone mas in the sunshine.
Provence is rustic and refined at once: stone farmhouses and châteaux, vineyards, hilltop villages and long lunches. The lavender fields add a burst of colour in early summer.
When to go
May to October is the season. Lavender usually blooms from late June to late July.
How guests get there
Marseille and Nice are the main airports, and high-speed trains reach Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.
Where guests stay
Châteaux and mas often have rooms for the wedding party, with guests in nearby villages.
Ideas for the weekend
- A rosé tasting at a vineyard
- A market morning
- Pétanque and a long lunch
Good to know
- Venues are spread out; organise transport between villages.
