Getting married in Sicily

Baroque towns, ancient ruins and food you'll talk about for years.

Sicily is warm, generous and full of history. Taormina's hilltop views, the baroque towns of the south-east and seaside estates make it a wonderful place for a wedding with a real sense of place, and the food alone wins guests over.

When to go

May, June, September and October are the best months. Midsummer is very hot, especially inland.

How guests get there

Catania and Palermo are the main airports, with Catania closest to Taormina and the south-east.

Where guests stay

Guests stay in hotels in towns such as Taormina, Noto, Ortigia and Cefalù, or in masserie and villas in the countryside.

Ideas for the weekend

  • Granita and brioche the morning after
  • A trip up Mount Etna
  • A boat day along the coast

Good to know

  • Distances are bigger than they look. Choose one area as your base.
